Shrubs or trees up to 5-10 m in height and up to 1 m crown diameter . The crown is ovoid-conical, sometimes umbellate in old age. The bark is light gray, smooth, reddish or yellow-brown on one-year-old shoots , green on the terminal ones. The branches are straight, outstretched or directed upward; branches are short, bluntly triangular. Leaves are close, protruding, dense, linear with a long pointed tip, 15–20 mm long, 1.3–2 mm wide, with two white longitudinal stripes, shiny green below with a prominent longitudinal keel, without a gland. A dioecious plant . The fruits are solitary, almost sessile, the smallest 6-7 mm and 5-6 mm in diameter, the largest 11-12 mm, almost spherical, glossy, red-brown. There are 2-3 seeds in a cone, sometimes 1 or 4, broadly ovate, slightly triangular.
