Leaves are alternate, three-leafed, leathery; leaflets are expanded above the middle. The flowers are small, white, collected in axillary or terminal thyrsi . The calyx is 5-lobed, the petals are 5 rounded, the stamens are 8, the pistil is one. Fruits are almost spherical or ovate, black, fleshy, single-seeded, 8-12 mm in diameter.
