Calathea maui queen Care
Calathea 'Maui Queen'

This rare houseplant is a hybrid cultivar native to South America. It is considered a Praying-Plant, which means it responds to solar rhythms, opening and closing its leaves according to the amount of light available to absorb and reflect light better and improve water conservation.
Its unique leaves make it easy to identify by oblong dark green leaves with an off-white pattern along the middle of the leaves. This spike-like or feather-like design seems as if hand-painted along the leaves' central nervures, and it can have some tints of cream and pale green. The underleaf is tinted in purple and wine-red shades.
It is used mostly for its decorative qualities but is also air-purifying and pet-safe. This delicate flower can flower in the wild, but it's rare to do so in indoor conditions.

How to Care for the Plant
Water
For this plant, small amounts of water and high frequency are ideal. Keep the soil moist and water when the first layer dries out but avoid overwatering.
