An annual herb, a herbaceous species of the genus Poppy (Papaver) of the Poppy family

Stem often branched from the base, with sparse appressed bristles, green. Basal leaves up to 20 cm long, double-pinnately dissected, with extended segments with linear-lanceolate sessile lobes. The buds are oblong, up to 15 mm long. The flowers are red. Blooms in May - July.
