Nigella hispanica ‘Midnight’ is a particularly lovely annual flower, bearing unusual velvety, dark purple blooms in contrast with lush green feathery foliage, followed by ornamental, dark purple, seed pods. Like most nigellas, it is easy to grow and makes a fabulous cut flower.
Stems are erect, up to 60 cm high.The leaves are dark green, deeply dissected.The flowers are white, pink, purple or crimson, with a weak aroma, with a bunch of bright red stamens in the center, up to 6 cm in diameter. Blooms from July to September. Fruit - consists of five swollen leaflets accreted almost to the top; Seeds are black, matte, ovoid. In 1 year, there are 320 seeds that remain viable for up to 2 years.
