This is an unusual, late-spring flowering bulb which produces spikes of up to 20 funnel-shaped magenta flowers. It looks stunning planted in groups among shrubs, where it will spread freely, or for providing vivid vertical accents among silver-leaved plants. The exotic-looking flowers also make lovely cut flowers.
Gladiolus corms provide virtually everything the plant needs to sprout and produce bloom stalks. you surely can kill them (rot) by overwatering. since you've watered after planting as recommended, leave them alone...... then, water plants during the summer if rainfall is less than 1 inch per week.
Mix the recommended amount of liquid fertilizer and water in a watering can. Then simply pour the mix into the soil as if you're watering the plant.
Most often planting instructions will suggest planting in loam soil. Loam soil should be rich in minerals and nutrients for the plants and loose enough that roots and spread out and grow strong.

Plants that don't like a lot of moisture will need a drainage hole for moisture to escape and for airflow to circulate through the pot. Another important function of drainage holes is to allow water to flush the soil of excess salts from fertilizers.
