Red Sensation cabbage tree is a fast growing woody plant native to New Zealand that can be grown as a palm-like shrub or a small tree. Its narrow, swordlike upper leaves remain erect while the lower leaves in the tip cluster droop. Panicles of fragrant white flowers appear in late spring, followed by small white or blue fruits.'Red Sensation' is grown for its dulled purple-burgundy leaves and is often used for height and texture in annual container plantings. Cordyline grows best in deep, well-drained soil in full sun, and will tolerate alkaline soils and drier seaside locales. Reduce watering in winter months. Stems may be cut off and buds allowed to resprout, giving numerous possibilities for rejuvenating leafheads at different heights. As a full grown tree it can reach an appreciable size, but it is often grown as a shrub in a garden setting, or even as a houseplant.

How to Care for the Plant
Water
Water the ti plant as needed to maintain a moist, but not saturated, soil environment. water the plants deeply with tepid water, never cold, and allow the plant's soil to dry slightly.
Pruning
To prune a plant to encourage bushy new growth, snip off the dominant buds on select stems, staggering the cuts to encourage varied growth.
Fertilizer
Mix the recommended amount of liquid fertilizer and water in a watering can. Then simply pour the mix into the soil as if you're watering the plant.
Sunlight
Part-shade/Semi-shade location.
Soil
Use a well-draining indoor potting mix with perlite to help with drainage.
Temperature
Cordyline thrives in temperatures above 62 degrees Fahrenheit and prefers a high humidity environment. Avoid putting the plant near a cold draft like a window, especially if the temperature drops lower than 62 degrees Fahrenheit. These are jungle plants, so if you're experiencing leaf drop, try raising both the temperature and humidity
Container
Choose a pot with drainage holes, which also ensures potting soil doesn't stay too wet after watering your houseplants. The excess can freely escape out the bottom of the container, allowing oxygen to make its way to plant roots.
