Columnea hirta ‘Light Prince’ is a really beautiful variegated form of the species hirta. Hirta is native to Mexico and Central America. This cultivar was imported from Holland. ‘Light Prince’ has dark red hairy stems the oblong leaves are variegated light green and white. The growth habit is trailing but compact. The flowers are orange-red with a yellow throat. Even if it did not bloom it is a gorgeous foliage plant. But the flowers add an extra treat. Like many Gesneriads you should keep this plant away from cold drafts and water with room temperature water.
