F. virginiana is a compact, stoloniferous perennial with trifoliate leaves divided into three coarsely toothed, wrinkled, dark green leaflets and clusters of white flowers in mid- to late spring followed by ovoid, edible, red fruit.
Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils.
