Drosera binata is found primarily in sandy marshes of southern and eastern Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand. The species has many forms. The single fork leafed forms are most widespread with the mutiforked forms restricted to eastern Australia north of Sydney. The forms from cooler locations tend to be smaller than the relatively large plants found in the warmer part of its range. The smaller forms of Drosera binata make good terrarium plants.

How to Care for the Plant
Water
Keep moist. D. binata loves to be watered via the tray method. It hates it when the media drys out.
Fertilizer
Feed once every two weeks or sooner (if not growing outdoors) for the fastest, largest growth. Feeding also encourages flowering.
Sunlight
Give all forms of Drosera binata as much light as possible. Leaves of all forms can turn bright red if given enough light (or if not fed for a while).
Soil
Loamy, Sandy
Temperature
not picky. Has grown well for me in the temp range of 40-85 degrees F. If the temperatures drop any lower than that, all varieties will usually go dormant.
Container
does quite well in smaller 2 to 3-inch pots, but the large roots can become crowded. Use taller pots (6-10+ inches tall) to encourage the largest possible growth.
