This is a bush or well-branched small tree. The branches are covered with a grey bark with elliptical lenticels. The leaves have oval or elliptical lamina measuring 8 to 14 cm by 5 to 9 cm. The leaf is rather rounded at the tip, cuneiform at the base, smooth and with crenate margins. 7 to 10 pairs of secondary veins are found on the lower leaf surface. The network of veins is very prominent on both sides. The petiole is 1-1.5 cm long and 1-2 mm in diameter. Flowers are white in colour with a red calyx. The receptacle is 1-1.5 mm in length and filiform at the base. The number of petals and sepals are equal and measure 2 mm by 1 mm. They are linearly oblong, rather pubescent, rarely smooth and have margins that are both ciliated and whitish. The stamens have filaments that bear long hairs that cover almost two-thirds of their length. There are also 4 to 5 styles that are free, hairy at the base and that measure between 1 and 1.5 mm in length. The grains are smooth.
