Near black this is the deepest coloured Calla Lily available. Zantedeschia Black Star boasts dramatic deep maroon spathes standing on dark tube like stems, surrounded by bright green wavy foliage speckled with white. Native to the hot and humid climates of South Africa, the Calla Lily is mostly found by lakes in moist soils, therefore prefers well-drained soil in a full or half sun location. Calla Lilies are dramatic additions to outdoor gardens with their distinctive funnel-shaped blossoms, but also make excellent cut flowers.
The best way to water a peace lily is to set the plant in the sink. pour water slowly onto the soil until liquid drips through the bottom of the pot. let the plant drain thoroughly, then return it to its drainage saucer. never let the plant sit in water, as disease caused by excess water is the number one reason for houseplant death.

They also enjoy humidity and moisture, so humid summers keep the flowers blooming just fine. If temperatures go much below 50, the plants will tend to go dormant.
