How to Care for the Plant

Water

Dragon’s Eye Care Dragon’s eye trees require less water than lychee. Young trees need consistent irrigation as they establish and mature trees should get regular water from flowering to harvest. Some drought stress during fall and winter may promote flowering in spring.

Fertilizer

Feed young trees every 6 to 8 weeks with a 6-6-6. Foliar feeds work well on mature plants from spring through fall. Apply 4 to 6 times during the growing season.

Sunlight

Prefers some shade from the strongest sun

Soil

Succeeds on most fertile soils so long as there is an abundance of moisture

Temperature

It needs chilling temperatures of about 7 - 12°c, or a 2 - 3 month period with temperatures about 15 - 22°c and a short dry period in order to stimulate flowering. From fruit set onwards high temperatures do not hamper development, but nights should not be warmer than 20 - 25°c
