How to Care for the Plant
Water
Regular but moderate watering is called for. All year long and especially during summer, spray water on the leaves to recreate the moisture levels of its natural habitat.
Pruning
No, you do not have to cut off the brown tips, but you could if you want to. Brown tips on their own do not harm or damage the plant. They are just dead tissue on the plant that dries off and in some cases becomes papery to the touch and drops off on contact.
Fertilizer
The spider plant doesn't need much fertilizer, but feeding a small dose once in 6-8 weeks can boost the plant's growth. Use any balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer during the growing season for the best result.
Sunlight
Indoors, keep your plant in an area having plenty of bright filtered light.
Soil
Well-drained.
Temperature
Average household temperatures are fine (above 16°C). These are fairly tough plants so should survive temperatures above 8°C in winter if the soil is kept fairly dry.
Container
Here’s a handy guideline: increase pot size by 2.5-5 cm (1 to 2 inches) in diameter for plants that are growing in pots 25.4 cm (10 inches) in diameter or less. For larger plants, those growing in pots greater than 10 inches in diameter, increase the pot size by 5 or 7.62 cm (2 or 3 inches) in diameter.
