Featuring striking, striped foliage, Ctenanthe Burle-Marxii [ten-AN-thee] is an interesting houseplant and perfect for rooms without direct sun.As an evergreen plant, the leaves remain on display throughout the year.It is part of the Maranta family (Maranta leuconeura prayer plant) and native to Brazil and also an easy-care plant.Ctenanthe Burle-Marxii is named after the famous Brazilian artist and landscape designer – Roberto Burle Marx, who I had the pleasure of once meeting.
For best results, water your ctenanthe when a top 25-50% of soil is dry. This is not a drought-tolerant indoor plant, but it is relatively forgiving if you forget to water it from time to time. Extended periods of dryness can result in brown leaf tips or edges.

Loam soil facilitates plant growth in three key ways. Aeration: The varied particle sizes in loam create a loosely-packed soil that allows oxygen to flow freely to plant roots. Nutrient retention: The presence of clay in loam ensures that nutrients cling to the soil, rather than being washed out by water.
Use sharp pruning shears to remove the sucker branches and the errant branches that are growing in the wrong direction or making it difficult to fertilize the tree. Since lemon cypress has a conical habit, trim the tree as per its natural shape. Trimming should be done every week during the summer.
Whether it be plastic or clay, make sure the pot you select has drainage holes in the bottom to prevent over-watering.
