What is the plant

This one of a kind Agave cultivar has a dramatic contrast of yellow stripes that run all the way down to the center of each of the leaves in between the gray green leaf margins. They can reach about 10" in diameter and will produce numerous offsets at the plant base producing dense clumps. (This plant comes in a 3.5" pot. You will receive a very similar plant to the one in the picture. It may or may not be blooming at the time of your purchase. The plant is shipped in its pot to prevent any damage to the roots).

How to Care for the Plant

water is the most dangerous thing to your succulent plant. More succulents die from overwatering than underwatering.

  • Fertilizer

To help establish your new Rum Runner Agave, fertilize sparingly a few inches away from the base, tri-annually with a slow time released product. Unfertilized they will tend to grow at a slower pace. Note: The heavy salts in cheaper fertilizers will damage the roots and possibly kill the plant. Its best to use a brand you know and trust.

  • Sunlight

All Agave varieties grow very well in containers, indoors or on the patio. Allow enough room for growth generally a 8″ to a 16″ diameter, 10″ deep container will suffice to get started. Remember the looser the roots, the taller and healthier your Agave will be. When the plant becomes root bound its growth will slow, at that point it is time for a larger pot.
