What is the plant

Can a herb collection exist without a Curry leaf? Sure, but it would lack something. Curry leaf is a fragrant addition to many dishes, so growing it can bring the daily meals to a new level.

Commonly known as the Curry Leaf plant, Murraya koenigii is highly utilized in Indian cuisine. This is a fast-growing evergreen tree that can reach 20 ft (6 m) in height. The spices made of the tree's foliage have a nutty, spicy flavor that enhances the taste of many Indian foods. The Curry Leaf grows in an upright, open habit and produces several branches of pinnate leaves. It's best to use fresh leaves for seasoning. Although this plant produces flowers, they aren’t suitable for consumption.

You can grow a Curry leaf plant as a small bush in a container and add it to the herb plant collection. Start with a small pot about 4 to 6 in ( 10 to 15 cm) tall and fill it with well-draining and fertile potting mix. Increase the container size by two inches every time you repot the greenie.

Despite its name, Curry leaves are unrelated to curry powder commonly associated with Indian cuisine. The Curry powder mix contains spices like coriander, turmeric, cumin, and cayenne but doesn’t have any curry leaves in it.
