The Flowering is a sub-tropical tree found in many countries. In Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia it is prized as one of the favorite species for Bonsai. Some grow along the coast and some in mountainous areas. The coastal species (Premna obtusifolia) is most often used for Bonsai due to the unique texture of the trunk. It is especially prized for the natural jin and shari it often possesses as a result of natural forces. The bright and shiny green of the leaves and the dancing, twisted trunk is often quite dynamic and elegant.
The watering of your bonsai must never be neglected. Apply water before the soil appears dry -- never allow the soil to become completely dry. It is a good idea to use a moisture meter until you get to know the requirements of your bonsai tree. Water should be applied until it begins running out of the holes in the bottom of your pot. It doesnât really matter âhowâ you water your tree, but rather that when you are finished the tree has been well watered.
