How to Care for the Plant
Water
Before each watering, check that there is no water left on the surface of the soil. Monstera standleyana needs to be watered frequently. Fortunately, skipping a watering won't harm the plant. Water should seep into the soil at a moderate rate, as overwatering the roots can lead to root rot.
Pruning
If you see that leaves have dry spots that became brown, cut these dying leaves so that your plant begins to recover. Otherwise, you may want to prune some older leaves away to enhance the plant's appearance.
Fertilizer
Feed M. standleyana Albo Variegata according to the instructions, either with an all-purpose, organic fertilizer or one designed for green plants during the warm months of the year. Give preference to the liquid fertilizer for better absorption.
Sunlight
This plant prefers medium to high sun. M. standleyana is demanding in terms of lighting. If you see your greenie twisting, it might be a sign of excessive sunlight, which is uncomfortable for the leaves. Move the pot with the plant to a less sunny location and you will see how the Monstera recovers.
Soil
You can plant a Monstera using a universal substrate, but it is essential that the mixture is of good quality and contains perlite. Keep the soil well-drained.
Propagation
The propagation is only possible by cutting the stem in the spring.
Temperature
Naturally living in the rainforest, Monstera standleyana requires a quiet place and cannot survive the cold outside in winter. Keep the ambient temperature somewhere in the range of 65-85°F (18-29°C) to promote growth.
Container
Fast-growing M. standleyana needs a spacious area for moving roots, so the pot of your choice has to be large and have drainage holes of the corresponding size.
Fun fact
