Its large bright green spear-shaped leaves matched with its yellow or orange stems in a unique contrast that allows for easy identification. It has wide green leaves with a wavy to ruffle-like effect and ridged leaf edges, and they can grow long, especially in the wild, where each leaf can spread for up to 3 feet (92 cm) long.
This plant is toxic to both animals and humans when ingested, so make sure to keep it out of reach of pets and kids.
How to Care for the Plant

Water

Allow for the soil to dry between watering sessions, which roughly translates to watering once a week. It can tolerate small drought periods but refrain from overwatering and letting the soil become excessively moist. It enjoys humidity due to its tropical nature, so a pebble tray with water or periodic misting might be necessary.

Pruning

In indoor settings, it usually grows up to 3 feet (92 cm), and it doesn’t require pruning aside from removing dead and damaged leaves.

Fertilizer

Fertilizing is required, ideally with fertilizers rich in potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorus.

Sunlight

It likes bright places with large quantities of indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight causes leaf burning.

Soil

Common potting mix is usually too heavy on its own and should be mixed with perlite or compost. Make sure the soil is well-drained.

Propagation

This plant can be propagated through water or soil propagation with stem cuttings.

Temperature

Philodendron Billietiae prefers warm temperatures, ideally between 65-80 ºF (18-27 ºC). Keep in mind that it doesn’t tolerate the cold, so temperatures shouldn’t drop below 55 ºF (13 ºC).

Container

A container should be big enough to prevent root stress and drainage holes, as this plant is prone to root rot. A trellis could also be employed to prevent the plant from drooping. It might need to be repotted every two years.

Fun fact

Philodendron Billietiae has air-purifying qualities that make it able to filter toxins in the air and improve air quality.
