Strawberry Star is a white Fancy Leaf caladium with green mid veins and pinky-red spots throughout the top of the leaf. Strawberry Star performs well in shade or full sun and is a vigorous leaf producer.
Caladium Strawberry Star must be kept well watered with moist soil at all times. They prefer a bright space with no direct sunlight. In winter Caladium might go dormant and slowly die back to tubers. The tutor should be stored in a dark, dry space over winter and watered at the beginning of spring for the next seasons show. In highly ideal environments Caladium can be kept active year long.
Caladiums are heavy feeders of potash and phosphorus and must have ample moisture and summer feeding of fertilizer in order to produce good tubers for the next growing season. Apply 1 tablespoon of 5-10-10 fertilizer per square foot every 4 to 6 weeks during the growing season.
A soil composed of peat moss, loam, or sand, or any soil mixture with good drainage can be used. The soil should not be overly fertile.
Temperatures between 65 (18 °C) to 75 F (23 °C) and nighttime temperatures between 50 t(10°C) to 60 F (15 °C).
