Greater periwinkle Care
Vinca major 'Variegata'

Vinca major is a trailing vine, spreading along the ground and rooting along the stems to form dense masses of groundcover individually 2–5 m across and scrambling up to 50–70 cm high. The leaves are opposite, nearly orbicular at the base of the stems and lanceolate at the apex, 3–9 cm long and 2–6 cm broad, glossy dark green with a leathery texture and an entire but distinctly ciliate margin, and a hairy petiole 1–2 cm long. Vinca major is a commonly grown ornamental plant in temperate gardens for its evergreen foliage, spring flowers, and groundcover or vine use. Many cultivars are available, with differences in flowers, such as white to dark violet flowers, and different patterns and colors of variegated foliage.

How to Care for the Plant
Water
Greater periwinkle needs 0.5 cups of water every 9 when it doesn't get direct sunlight and is potted in a 5" pot.
Pruning
Trim out dead and damaged leaves any time, pinching off or cutting off each of those leaves at its base. Avoid cutting into a plant's main stems or its crown, which is where its leaves and roots meet.
Fertilizer
Universal fertilizer is granular and mineral product intended for fertilization of all types of garden cultivations. Its balanced content is suitable both for fruit trees, fruit bushes, vegetables and ornamental plants. The even composition of individual elements makes the fertilizer universal.
Sunlight
Needs a lot of sunlight, but it has to be protected from the strongest rays of the sun. In a south-facing window, blinds should be shading it form direct light. An east facing window, where the sun disappears after about 10 AM, is a good choice as is a west facing window where the plant will receive afternoon sun.
Soil
Planting instructions will suggest planting in a sterile potting mix.
Temperature
The plant can be grown in the areas with the lowest winter temperature of -23.3°C (-10°F).
