Cyclamen purpurascens

Cyclamen purpurascens grows in deciduous or mixed woodland, especially among beeches and over limestone, at 250–1,300 m (800–4,300 ft) above sea level in continental Europe from eastern France across the Alps to Poland and south to Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is also found in mountainous parts of Romania and western Russia, where it has been introduced. C. purpurascens blooms from summer to autumn, keeps its leaves through the winter, and produces seeds and new leaves the next summer. Flowers appear before or with the leaves, and have 5 upswept petals. Flowers are sweetly scented, ranging in color from pale rose-pink to purple or rose-carmine and are 17 to 25 mm (0.67 to 0.98 in) long.
How to Care for the Plant

Water

Water it very sparingly in spring. when summer comes, move your cyclamen to a warm and dark or shaded spot in your home, and stop watering completely for two to three months. the warm-weather dormant period is a good time to repot, which you should do every other year or so.

Pruning

Houseplants should typically be pruned at the beginning of the growing season, which is late winter or early spring for many varieties.

Fertilizer

Universal fertilizer is granular and mineral product intended for fertilization of all types of garden cultivations. Its balanced content is suitable both for fruit trees, fruit bushes, vegetables and ornamental plants. The even composition of individual elements makes the fertilizer universal.

Sunlight

Light is an essential factor in maintaining plants. The rate of growth and length of time a plant remains active is dependent on the amount of light it receives. Light energy is used in photosynthesis, the plant's most basic metabolic process.

Soil

Requires a well-drained, loose mixture of potting soil.

Temperature

Cyclamen purpurascens is hardy in the areas with the lowest winter temperatures down to -39.9°C (-40°F). Indoors, cyclamen need to be kept in fairly cool conditions in a daytime temperature, not exceeding 20°C and a night-time temperature of about 10°C. Temperatures above 20°C (68°F) may induce the plant to go dormant.

Container

Whether your potted plants are indoors or outdoors, proper drainage is an essential element to ensure they stay healthy.
