How to Care for the Plant
Water
Water the Concord Blue primrose when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil becomes dry during its blooming period. Place the potted plant in a sink. Fill the pot with water slowly to avoid splashing the foliage as much as possible. Wait for the excess water to drain out the pot's drainage holes. Fill the pot with water a second time to ensure that the soil is evenly saturated. Wait for the excess water to finish draining, and then replace the pot on its drainage tray. Always water during the morning hours to allow accidentally moistened foliage time to dry before nightfall. Reduce watering when the plant stops blooming to when the top 3 to 4 inches of soil becomes dry.
Fertilizer
Mix 1/2-teaspoon of 10-10-10 nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium water-soluble fertilizer with 1 gallon of water. Apply the fertilizer every 10 to 14 days while the plant is actively growing and blooming. Fill the pot with the fertilizer solution one to two times, waiting for the excess to drain out of the pot between each refill. Stop fertilizing the "Concord Blue" primrose once it finishes blooming and growth slows, generally in the fall.
Sunlight
Position pots in bright, indirect sunlight indoors and full to partial shade outdoors. Keep indoor plants away from heating and cooling vents.
Soil
Plant prefers a fast-draining, nutrient-rich soil.
Temperature
Place the potted Concord Blue cape primrose in an area with a constant daytime temperature of 70°F and a nighttime temperature of 65°F.
Container
Choose a container with enough drainage holes. Place the pot on top of the rocks in the tray, allowing the evaporating water to rise around the plant and increase the humidity level.
