Aubrieta deltoidea is a low growing, herbaceous perennial groundcover member of the Brassicaceae or mustard family. This plant is also known as False Rockcress or lilacbush. It is native to southeastern Europe, but is grown worldwide as an ornamental plant and it grows wild in some areas as a garden escapee. False rock cress will not exceed a height of 1’ foot, and individual plants can spread as wide as 2’ feet. The dainty, pretty leaves are grayish green in color. Aubrieta plants are an early spring bloomer. Blossoms are in shades of pink, violet, and red.
