Dieffenbachia amoena ‘Tropic Snow’

Dieffenbachia is a genus of tropical flowering plants in the family Araceae. It is native to the New World Tropics from Mexico and the West Indies south to Argentina. Some species are widely cultivated as ornamental plants, especially as houseplants, and have become naturalized on a few tropical islands. Dieffenbachia is a perennial herbaceous plant with straight stem, simple and alternate leaves containing white spots and flecks, making it attractive as indoor foliage. Species in this genus are popular as houseplants because of their tolerance of shade.

How to Care for the Plant
Water
As usual with tropical plants, water only when the top couple of inches (2-5 cm) of the soil are dry, don't let it sit in water.
Pruning
To prune a plant to encourage bushy new growth, snip off the dominant buds on select stems, staggering the cuts to encourage varied growth.
Fertilizer
Use a balanced fertilizer with a 10-10-10 formula.
Sunlight
Light is an essential factor in maintaining plants. The rate of growth and length of time a plant remains active is dependent on the amount of light it receives. Light energy is used in photosynthesis, the plant's most basic metabolic process.
Soil
Well-drained.
Temperature
The Dieffenbachia plant does well as a houseplant, thriving with year-round average room temperatures of 65°-75°F. Dieffenbachias will not tolerate low temperatures. Anything below 60°F and growth begins to slow.
Container
When choosing a pot, choose a pot that is 2.5-5 cm (1-2”) larger than the current size. Ceramic pots are porous which means your plants are less likely to experience root rot from overwatering. It also means you'll have to water more often. Plastic pots are lighter, less likely to break, and easier to clean.
