How to Care for the Plant
Water
Keep the soil moist but not soaked. So try to water the plant throughout the week in small amounts. Check the soil to ensure it has not become muddy but remains damp.
Pruning
Remove damaged or frail leaves.
Fertilizer
Upgrade the leafy friend's pot regularly with fresh soil, with each size doubling, and fertilizer will not be required.
Sunlight
This plant does not appreciate direct sunlight. Keep these leafy friends in partial shade.
Soil
Mix half and half loam and acidic sandy soil, both somewhat acidic. This mix will work perfectly for your mountain cabbage tree.
Propagation
Place a branch in some potting soil and water and expose it to appropriate light, and a new plant will generate.
Temperature
Temperatures below freezing will severely damage this plant. Extreme heat can be dangerous, too.
Container
As these plants can get quite big, it is best to select an enormous container, and we recommend one with about 5.9 inches (15 cm) of space between the mountain cabbage tree's roots and the edges of the container. This way, it will have a lot of room to grow. Make sure to choose a heavy container to anchor the plant to the ground, and don't forget drainage holes, or you may drown the plant.
Fun fact
These plants are referred to as Mountain Cabbage trees as their leaves somewhat resemble cabbage leaves.
