How to Care for the Plant
Water
This plant has average moisture needs. Water weekly during hot summer months to keep it green and growing; short periods of drought will stunt, but not kill the plant.
Pruning
Cut back the foliage in early spring to within a few inches of the ground. This will help make room for the new grass blades and will improve the look of the plant.
Fertilizer
Mulching with a 3-inch layer of bark mulch or other organic material is advisable, especially when fostering the growth of young plants. Blue fescue plants do not need fertilization as long as an organic mulch is used around the base of the grass. Keep the foliage looking its best by hand combing out the dead blades of grass and removing the flower heads.
Sunlight
Best grown in full sun to part shade.
Soil
Perform well in most types of soil.
Temperature
Ideal temperatures should be approximately 65-75ºF + (18-24ºC +), closer to 70ºF is best.
