What is the plant

In general, the leaves are 50–250 millimetres (2–10 in) long or longer, simple, lobed, and form a basal rosette above the central taproot. The flower heads are yellow to orange coloured, and are open in the daytime, but closed at night. The heads are borne singly on a hollow stem (scape) that is usually leafless and rises 10–100 millimetres (3⁄8–3+7⁄8 in) or more above the leaves.

Water
Water occasionally. Water throughout the summer months, about once a week or more during periods of drought, but let off once fall approaches.

Soil
Dandelions grow best in well-drained, fertile soil but do well in any soil anywhere.
Temperature
Seeds germinate throughout the growing season when soil is moist and soil temperature is at least 50°F. However, germination is more rapid when the soil temperature is closer to 77°F.
