The cayenne pepper is a type of Capsicum annuum. It is usually a moderately hot chili pepper used to flavor dishes. Cayenne peppers are a group of tapering, 10 to 25 cm long, generally skinny, mostly red-colored peppers, often with a curved tip and somewhat rippled skin, which hang from the bush as opposed to growing upright.

How to Care for the Plant
Soil
Cayenne pepper plants require moist, well-drained, fertile soil with a neutral pH. More acidic soil can produce peppers that are spicier than normal.
Temperature
Although your seeds may be able to fertilize outdoors or in a container, cayenne peppers germinate best at a constant heat of 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit (24 to 29 degrees Celsius), which is often too hot for places that frost or even regular indoor temperatures. Soak your pepper seeds in a glass of water overnight.
Container
A 2-gallon pot is the optimum size for one pepper plant. A 15-gallon tub provides enough growing space for five pepper plants.
Additional
Painful exposures to capsaicin-containing peppers are among the most common plant-related exposures presented to poison centers. They cause burning or stinging pain to the skin and, if ingested in large amounts by adults or small amounts by children, can produce nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and burning diarrhea. Cayenne pepper is a type of chili pepper. Cayenne pepper originated from South America. The cayenne pepper plant grows to about 2-4 feet tall. We typically see cayenne pepper in its ground form. Immature cayenne pepper is green, which is also known as hot pepper.
