Clivia gardenii Hook. is an evergreen plant growing up to 60 cm. It is usually found growing in deep shade in forested areas and steeply sloping areas, cliffs and sometimes marshy spots. It comes primarily from KwaZulu-Natal, and has also been found in Mpumalanga and Swaziland.
Pruning dead leaves: yellow leaves and dead leaves should be broken off from the root, not only the dry parts of the leaves should be pruned, and the withered leaves can be removed after aging. Pruning roots: cut roots with cigarette butts to dry the cut places to prevent infection of roots. Water and apply fertilizer in the implanted soil. Do not prune roots of plants that have not yet blossomed. Pruning and decaying flowers: generally, cut off the stem directly, and smear red mold ointment on the cutting mouth.
Clivia are excellent in large containers in a shady corner of the patio or deck and make ideal indoor plants.
