Be sure to plant in well-drained soil. That is the most important factor when trying to grow Sempervivum. Watering is not required once established except during periods of drought. Immediately after transplanting or planting, water generously.
Fertilizing: Fertilize heavily during the fall growth spurt cycle with 200 to 300 ppm general all-purpose fertilizer or 200 ppm of a good Calcium-Magnesium (CaNO3/MgNO3) based fertilizer.
Sempervivum do most of their growing in the spring and summer, and will thrive with weekly watering and afternoon shade if temperatures exceed 80F.
