Also known as the Money plant, Jade plant or friendship tree, Crassula ovata has unique glossy green thick fleshy leaves and this particular variety 'Magical Tree' has foliage that is a little flatter than the standard. The trunk on this plant becomes thick with age and they develop interesting stem patterns. You can cultivate new plants by simply sticking a leaf into some soil. These shrubby succulents make great easy to maintain house plants.
Crassula enjoy a sunny, light position. Water regularly but do not allow this plant to stand in water. Allow to partially dry out between waterings.
These succulents prefer average summer temperatures between 65 and 70 ºF (18 and 21 ºC); in winter, cold to 50 ºF (10 ºC). Most Crassulas will tolerate some short-term freezing, but cold or heat extremes will cause them to lose leaves and die.
Like many species from the Crassulaceae family, the jade plant is toxic to horses, and dogs and cats, as well as mildly toxic to humans, in some cases, with skin contact. The Crassula belongs to the family of the Crassulaceae. This plant grows in the dry and rough countryside of South Africa, including the Karoo. The Karoo is a vast semi-desert, which is virtually entirely without trees.
