Ruta graveolens (rue or common rue). The leaves are bipinnate or tripinnate, with a feathery appearance, and green to strongly glaucous blue-green in color. The flowers are yellow, with 4–5 petals, about 1 cm diameter, and borne in cymes.
Water regularly (about 2 times a week) but with little amount of water. Fertilize once a month in spring and summer with mineral fertilizer.
Apply a complete fertilizer with equal proportions of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to rue in early spring as new growth begins. A typical amount of granular fertilizer is 2 pounds of fertilizer for every 1,000 square feet of soil.
Rue is a woody perennial that flowers in late spring on fresh, new wood, so the standard practice is to trim the stems down to old wood in early spring, before new growth begins. Old, woody plants benefit from especially hard pruning.
To determine possible toxic effects of Ruta graveolens hydroalcoholic extract in gastrointestinal parasitic infection.
