It has an upright stem and number of branches that also grow upward. The stem and branches can have two or three sides. The stem itself is dark green with V-shaped light green patterns. The 5 mm (1â4 in) thorns occur in pairs on the stem's ridges. The drop shaped leaves grow from between the two thorns on each ridge. The plant has never been known to flower, and is possibly a hybrid.
Water: Euphorbia trigona like to dry out between waterings. Dip your finger about an inch into the soil: if it's damp, you can wait on watering; if it's dry, you know it's time to water again
Fertilizer: Provide Euphorbia trigona with a light feeding of balanced water-soluble succulent fertilizer monthly during the spring and summer. Reduce watering and do not fertilize at all during the cooler months (fall and winter).
If your plant gets too heavy, consider pruning off the arms (and propagating those clippings to make new plants).
It prefers warm temperatures, ideally between 15-27°C. Apply a dose of liquid fertilizer in the summer to encourage growth. When grown indoors, the Euphorbia trigona can grow to 1-2 meters tall.
Toxicity: White milky sap is a skin irritant and poisonous. Protect eyes and mouth when handling. Wash immediately if in contact with skin. Keep pets or children away.
