What is the plant

Maclura tricuspidata - a small dioecious deciduous tree of the family mulberry, up to 6 m, which occurs from eastern Asia, where sometimes cultivated for the sake of sweet edible fruit, reminiscent of fruit mulberry , as to taste a little persimmon

The leaves are small, pale yellowish green in color. The fruit is a complex polystyrene, 2.5-5 cm in diameter, after ripening it is red or dark burgundy red. The inside contains red flesh with a few small brown seeds, very similar to hemp nuts . In the subtropics of the Black Sea coast in the Batumi Botanical Garden, the fruits ripen in November, after the leaves fall. The red pulp of juicy compound fruits and curd leaves contain white juice. Today it has been introduced in many countries where the climate allows it to be grown.
