What is the plant

Slender annual 10-60 cm. Leaflets 3-8 pairs, 5-15 x 2-5 mm, obovate-oblong. Heads 2- to 6-flowered; peduncle about equalling leaves. Corolla 5-8 mm. Legume 20-40(-60) x 3-5 mm, curved so that the sinuses open on the convex edge; segments with orbicular sinuses, glabrous or very sparsely papillose.

Low, usually prostrate, hairy plant, woody at the base. Leaves pinnate with three to eight pairs of linear to oval leaflets. Flowers, yellow, 6 to 10 mm, in stalked heads of five to 12, the standard petal with a distinct claw. Pods twisting, with horse-shoe shaped segments. This is an annual herbaceous plant 20-50 cm tall, with a bare, straight to creeping stem branched from the base and above. Leaves petiolate, with 3-8 pairs of oblong-linear narrowly inverted ovate-wedge-shaped leaf fragments. Umbrellas 3- 8-flowered with a yellow corolla of petals. The fruit is a pod. Seeds are cylindrical, arcuate, brown and smooth. It blooms in late spring and early summer.
