What is the plant

Begonias are tender perennials, grown for their colorful flowers and foliage. Most begonias can be grown outdoors in pots, in the ground, or in hanging baskets in filtered light and moist, but well drained soil. Where not hardy, grow as annuals or indoors as houseplants. Most begonias can be propagated from leaf, stem or rhizome cuttings in addition to being sown from seed. This bushy begonia has attractive foliage with large, bare leaves. The many flowers are white, and bloom in summer. Stemming is upright and zig-zag between the nodes. This plant enjoys filtered light but can take some sun in winter. Soil should ideally be moist. Begonias grow very well in peat-based compost also.

In a pot with good drainage, wait to water the begonia until the top portion of the soil is dry and be wary of overwatering. having a pot with good drainage will allow excess water to drain from the soil and prevent the plant from sitting in stagnant water. like other indoor plants, begonias enter a dormancy period in the colder months.

Simply apply the fertilizer around the base of the plant, extending to the drip line. For vegetables, place the fertilizer in a strip parallel to the planting row. Water-soluble fertilizers are faster acting but must be applied more frequently. This method gives plants food while you water.

Select a location receiving more direct morning or evening sunlight than mid day sun. Early morning / late day sunlight is much cooler with less intense rays. By keeping begonias out of the midday direct sun, the plants have less stress, and will produce more blooms.
