L. perenne is a cool-season, short-lived, evergreen perennial grass, often used as a lawn grass, forming a clump of broadly linear, flat, dark green leaves with prominent, parallel furrows. Green flower spikelets in summer turn grey or tan with age.
Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils and can grow in very acid, very alkaline and saline soils.
