Spreading, suckering, deciduous tree or large shrub with softly fuzzy to hairless branches and shoots. Grows to 50 feet tall and 30 feet wide. Leaves are pinnately compound, to 24 inches long, with 7 to 13 widely ovate, shiny green leaflets that turn brilliant red in the fall. Flowers are yellowish-green and held in conical, semi-pendent panicles, to 8 inches in length. Flowers are followed on female plants by conical clusters of small, round, light yellow fruit. Withstands both extreme heat and cold and grows in almost any soil. Native to Eastern China.
