Florida Beauty' Variegata, Philodendron hybrid (not a species) has a multi-lobed leaf with a single large lower lobe. The leaves are 6" - 9" i. It is a climber and it needs high humidity to flourish. The two popular types of Philodendron are climbers and non-climbing varieties. The climbers, are suited to the average room as long as you provide firm support for the stems. The climbing Philodendrons produce aerial roots from the stems. Most of the non-climbers are capable of growing into immense plants with large, deeply lobed leaves. These are more suited to buildings with large open spaces.
Dry soil for too long will kill the plant. But so will too much water. It’s common for an over-watered Philodendron to develop root rot (also known as wet feet). The first two layers or first two inches of the soil should be dry before you water it. The easiest way to test this is to stick your finger into the soil until your knuckle hits the soil.
To help establish your new Florida Beauty Red Stem Philodendron, fertilize sparingly at least 6 inches away from the base, tri-annually with a slow time released product. Unfertilized they will tend to grow very slowly. Note: The heavy salts in cheaper fertilizers will damage the roots and possibly kill the plant.
Florida Beauty Red Stem Philodendrons enjoy well drained but moist, rich organic mix. Remember try to stay away from wet, mucky or dry, sandy soils.
The best temperature range for the Philodendron Florida ghost is between 65F (18C) to 95F (35C).They’re sensitive to cold weather. During the cold months, make sure you have the heat at an appropriate level so it doesn’t freeze.Don’t place it near an air conditioner or open window during winter.
