Kalanchoe laxiflora is a succulent subshrub up to 20 inches (50 cm) tall. The leaves are elliptically-shaped, gray or green, often tinged red, particularly along the margins with older leaves often a red-violet color. The inflorescence rises up to 1 foot (30 cm) or more above the plant bearing orange, bell-shaped flowers.
Water during the summer period but without excess, once or twice a week if it is very dry, rather in the morning and spare the leaves from getting wet. In pots, water once a week during growth, and reduce to once every 20 days in winter.
Avoid using heavy soil. It may be too compacted for your potted plant and won't allow air to get to the roots.
Use sharp pruning shears to remove the sucker branches and the errant branches that are growing in the wrong direction or making it difficult to fertilize the tree. Since lemon cypress has a conical habit, trim the tree as per its natural shape. Trimming should be done every week during the summer.
