How to Care for the Plant
Water
Squash thrives with deep watering, where moisture penetrates about 4 feet (1.21 meters) into the ground. Mounding the rows creates a 4- to 6-inch-deep (4.16-15.54cm) furrow between each row, which aids in watering.
Pruning
It is important because damaged leaves and stems can actually be an energy drain on your plant. By removing those dead parts, you're taking some of that work off your plant’s plate and allowing it to divert its energy into healthy leaves and new growth!
Fertilizer
Universal fertilizer is granular and mineral product intended for fertilization of all types of garden cultivations. Its balanced content is suitable both for fruit trees, fruit bushes, vegetables and ornamental plants. The even composition of individual elements makes the fertilizer universal.
Sunlight
Needs a lot of sunlight, but it has to be protected from the strongest rays of the sun. In a south-facing window, blinds should be shading it form direct light. An east facing window, where the sun disappears after about 10 AM, is a good choice as is a west facing window where the plant will receive afternoon sun.
Soil
Requires a well-drained, loose mixture of potting soil.
Temperature
They are warm season crops adapted to monthly mean temperatures of 18-27°C. C. moschata is the least tolerant of low temperatures.
Container
Increase pot size by 2.5-5 cm (1 to 2 inches) in diameter for plants that are growing in pots 25.4 cm (10 inches) in diameter or less. For larger plants, those growing in pots greater than 10 inches in diameter, increase the pot size by 5 or 7.62 cm (2 or 3 inches) in diameter.
