Commonly known as the Toothache plant, Spilanthes acmella is native to South America. This plant has valuable medicinal properties and is added as a spice to salads and stews. Spilanthes acmella typically grows 12 in (30 cm) tall and spreads up to 18 in (45 cm) wide. The foliage has an elongated shape and a velvety texture. The blooms are round in shape, beginning yellow at the base and ending up with a red tip at the top. The plant starts flowering in summer and blooms until late fall.
