Arborvitae turning brown

Newly planted this year. Watering by drip hose for 2 hours every other day. Why are they turning brown and losing needles?

This plant appears to have brown, dry leaves and is located in a planter on the porch. It may be suffering from a lack of water or overwatering, which can cause the leaves to wilt and turn brown. To fix this issue, it's important to provide consistent moisture to the plant by watering it regularly and allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Additionally, ensuring the plant receives adequate sunlight and providing it with fertilizer can help promote healthy growth. It may also be helpful to prune any dead or damaged branches to encourage new growth. As an expert gardener, I would recommend regular watering, proper sunlight and fertilization, as well as pruning to promote healthy growth for this plant.

Thanks. These plants are not in a planter but are in soil in the ground. You mention suffering from a lack of water or overwatering? Which is it?

In the second pic, the one on the right looks like the side facing the house is doing better. Maybe they are just getting too much sun and burning the leaves?

Years ago I planted a row of arborvitae along a fence line. Out of 20 plants one did the same as your picture. Ive read that this is common for them. I couldnt save mine but I hope you have better luck.
