Looks like the plant was continuously overwatered in a pretty bad draining. I’d untie first it for sure, and check if some roots are still alive - repot it in a good soil mix. 40% regular potting soil, 30% perlite or pumice, 20% orchid bark/coco chips, and 10% charcoal or coarse sand. The key is drainage and airflow around the roots. Before watering it’s best if half of the soil gets dry first. Be very careful watering it after the repotting ❤️
