How much to water?

When I follow the PlantIn guidelines, it seems to be too little. So I tend to do more. Im worried that Im overwatering. Also, PlantIn recommends various fertilizers. How necessary are these? I think I tend to administer them wrong. Im a total newbie, but I want to learn. I really want to create a space for many healthy and thriving plants. Any advice welcome and appreciated. Thanks. Ps: the last photo is the one Im really sad about. It used to be flourishing. I clearly did something wrong, but I have no idea what.

The plant provided is a species of Zamioculcas zamiifolia, commonly known as the Anthurium plant. The issue with this plant is that it appears to be unhealthy and has yellow leaves. This can be caused by several factors such as overwatering, underwatering, too much direct sunlight or lack of light, or exposure to drafts. Advice to fix it: 1. Adjust the watering schedule: Ensure the plant is watered enough but not over-watered. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. 2. Provide adequate light: Anthuriums prefer bright, indirect light. Move the plant to a brighter location or provide additional artificial light if necessary. 3. Fertilize: Use a balanced fertilizer (e.g. 10-10-10 NPK) during the growing season, and a half strength solution in the winter months. 4. Prune: Remove any dead or damaged leaves and branches to promote healthy growth. 5. Repot: If the roots have grown out of the current pot, repot the plant in a larger container with well-draining soil. By following these steps, the unhealthy Anthurium plant should recover and return to a healthy state.

I always give more water than Plantin suggests. Mostly due to pot size. I went through the same problem with PlantIn at first. I do follow the fertilizer system. Just be mindful of the plants needs(succulents, flowering etc.

I found the watering calculator helpful for my indoor plants. I water my outdoor plants more often depending on the weather. I measured the amount and I had been overwatering. My plants are healthier now. Fertilizer is necessary as all living things need food to thrive. I use Miracle Grow crystals that dissolve in water. Your plant has dead leaves that can be cut off. Brown crispy leaves are a sign of underwatering. The yellow/brown spots on the edges of the leaves could be caused by a by a fungus.

You can spray with neem oil to kill any fungus. You can buy it at any garden center and follow the directions for diluting. My plants have done really well with this routine.

I also tend to overwater. Be much more conservative with watering your ZZ plant. I was diligent with watering and got root rot. Its basically a succulent and is very drought tolerant. Also make sure that all of your pots have drainage holes to drain any excess water. Good luck! They are beautiful 🪴❤️
