romaine lettuce
I’m growing Romain lettuce for the first time. My plant has grown nicely is about 18 inches tall with leaves about 4 to 5 inches long. When is the proper time to pick the leaves to eat? I was told to go ahead and pick them and they would grow morebut when I did, the lettuce was extremely bitter to taste.

Honestly homegrown lettuce has a bit of a sour taste to it so it can sometimes help to wash it pretty well but also you can either wait till the leaves are dark green or like how they are seen at a grocery store. Sorry there is no definitive answer but I hope this helps!!!
