white spots on my split philodendron

Hi all, I noticed that my plants has these little white spots on the front and back of my older leaves. Ive wiped them off with water and very little soap but they come back. Anyone have any idea what the spots are and how to get rid of them?

Hello, what you have on your plant are surely mealybugs. What you did is good but try with a little bit of burning alcohol it will work a little better otherwise there are special oils.

Agreeing with Daviauseraphin with the possibility of Mealybugs. Though be careful if you use rubbing alcohol! Undiluted solution can damage the leaves. The best thing to do is isolate the plant away from other houseplants, rinse the plant thoroughly in the shower, remove the white stuff with a cotton swab or cloth, and apply an appropriate insecticide. If the infestation is severe mealybugs can hide in the root so if they keep coming back despite repeated leaf treatments it may be worth inspecting the roots
