Root rot probably. Repot it, and give new pot, and soil. Don’t water to much. Rinse the roots off then, rip rotted ones off gently. Good luck!

Also, replant it in a liner pot to go into the ceramic pot it’s in now for better plant health. It also needs light shining on top of the pot. Consider getting it a grow light if a window spot isn’t available.
